Size matters Mar 09, 2010 This TV has all I could ask for at this point in my electronic cyber life. Great clear images on tv and fun when I use as monitor with pc.
Big beautiful picture Mar 09, 2010 Big beautiful picture, can't say enough about the picture, and the price was great $699 with white glove delivery service, they unpacked and hooked it up. Only problem was Amazon, they gave the delivery people the wrong phone number so it took a few extra days to contact the delivery company. I knew something was wrong when Amazons' order system did not ask for a contact number but said the vendor would call. But all in all I got a great deal on an excellent set. I have a 42" Panasonic and 50" LG the Samsung has a much better picture than the LG and a little better than the Panasonic. 720 p 1080i you will not know the difference since cable & sat HD is not true 1080p anyway its compressed, off the air HD is much sharper.
Samsung the best Mar 06, 2010 First of all I love buying from Amazon. They are so easy to deal with and give great service. This Samsung Plasma is exactly what we wanted. The picture is amazing, easy to set up, and the size is perfect for our rec room. I was a little hesitant from some of the reviews, but have had no trouble at all. I would highly recomend this TV!
Good Price Feb 14, 2010 I actually went to BB to get the Panasonic TC-P50X1 but they were out of stock. They gave me this one for the same price. Ive had it for about 10 days.
PICTURE.
Good color, nice black levels. I have Cox cable and I set the box to 720p over HDMI.
SOUND
Surprising. I had a bottom of the line Samsung LCD in the past and that was my biggest complaint. The sound was horrible. This unit has pretty good sound and several different sound modes.
BURN IN/IMAGE RETENTION
Yesterday I had the TV on ESPN for about 4 hours while NASCAR was on. When I ran the scroll menu option I noticed the faintest retention of the ESPN logo in the lower right corner. I ran the scroll option like the manual said and its gone now. I hope this becomes less of an issue as the TV gets more hours on it.
REFLECTIVE/GLARE
Samsung claims this has some sort of anti glare protection but any light sources shows up perfectly. I have it facing my bed and I had to tilt the screen to the side so that my lamps wouldn't show up on the screen. If you have any strong light sources in the room that you cant shut off (like a window) I wouldn't get it.
From what I hear glare and burn in/retention are not as prominent on the Panasonic. So if BB gets that in before my 30 days are up I will probably take this one back. That said I still think this is a good TV for the price if you don't mind the glare and are careful about what you watch for the first 200 or so hours.
Samsung 50 " Plasma 720P Feb 08, 2010 I had to write a review to tell everyone about this TV ..First off I bought this TV to replace the old Projection TV and a Tube TV and being new to the digitial TV's I have to say I was put off at first .
I could tell the picture was clearer than my Sony Projection TV and looked more vibrant and at the same time it had a slight double edge just slightly enough to annoy me so I took it back to the store.
I replaced it with the same model of Samsung I had before and got it home it looked exactly the same. I have dish network and I called them they said the new TV's need HD to look perfect and I had them come out and put HD on the tv all I can say is WOW . What a difference I have never seen a clearer picture on any TV in my life every detail is amazing and flawless and I have friends with LCD 1080i in HD and this TV outshines them in colors and clarity.
The noise reduction should never be turned on and there is the sharpness you want to keep around 36 and for brightness I keep it around 50 it is too bright above that setting. If the people are plastic looking in the face you have it set up wrong in the NR or Saturation. I am way picky about my TV picture and thought I was going to have to pay 3 times as much to get this kind of quality it's like looking out a crystal clear window .If you never hook up HD you will never know what your missing IF you do hoo up HD you won't go without it ever again. I also see it shows 1980 X 1080i when on HD I thought they rated it at 720P I am not complaining..
One more thing the TV does not get hot or have any artifacts or screen burn in problems . The 42 Plasma I bought gets hot in back it is a Zenith and it worries me a bit since I just bought it.
I also wantd to tell you all the new TV's are made for digital and HD if you are picky about the picture you will end up installing HD if the TV is 50 or over.

Consumer Reports Says: Buy HDTV at Amazon!
Washington, D.C. (October 31, 2008) -- When it comes to price, Consumer Reports says shoppers are most likely to find the best deals online. And the publication called three ecommerce sites "standouts" in this year's Consumer Reports ratings of electronics stores: Amazon.com, Crutchfield.com and B&H (bhphotovideo.com)
The magazine's survey was based on more than 38,000 purchases of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, between January 2007 and June 2008. The report indicated that online stores consistently offered better prices. (The magazine's full report can be found in its December 2008 issue.)
"Buying online can be better," the magazine said in a press release. "The higher-rated electronics retailers in Consumer Reports annual reader survey are Web sites. Readers who bought online rated their overall satisfaction at 90 out of 100 -- higher than those who bought in a store. Additionally, many Web merchants offer free shipping, even on TVs, which could spare the hassle of struggling to fit a bulky carton in the car or paying a local store for delivery."
Consumer Reports said that while no single retailer scored excellent in all shopping categories, Amazon.com and Crutchfield.com came closest.
